Gary Thompson joined Chappell, Smith & Associates in 2011 to lead the life and health department. Gary started his insurance career in personal lines, but quickly developed a passion for helping others with their life and health needs. His career path led him to work with some of the largest health insurers in the country before returning to work in the field. The time spent working directly for these insurers gave great insight to the changing landscape in health care.
Gary continues to stay on the forefront of health reform and the ACA. He has provided continuing education to CPA’s through the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants and was featured in the CPA Journal in 2013. His education includes certifications from The American College in health reform and he is a graduate of Memphis State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance. Gary is a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters as well.
Amy started at Chappell Smith & Associates in 2006 working in the accounting department. Her friendliness and customer focus led her to join the benefits team in 2011. Amy attained her PAHM, Professional Academy for Healthcare Management designation showing competency in health plans in 2013. In 2016, she received the designation of Certified Benefit Account Manager from the National Association of Health Underwriters. Amy is a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters.
When Amy is not busy helping clients she enjoys spending time with her husband J.J., daughter Avery and son Nick. Her two children keep her running from cheering competitions to baseball tournaments.
Ann recently joined Chappell, Smith & Associates in 2018 with 12 years’ experience in employee benefits. She has been in the industry since 2006, starting her career at a local firm and transitioning with them while being acquired. Her experience includes working with groups of all sizes to include large municipalities. She has jumped right in managing many of our hospitality clients in multiple states. She finds motivation tackling difficult claim issues, educating clients on benefits and finding ways to save them money.
When Ann is not answering emails at all hours of the day, she enjoys an active lifestyle helping her husband manager their farm and leading students at church.
